Reading Through Genesis

As I would always say, the Bible is inexhaustible. You can read a book a number of times and you'll always get hit, be wooed, or be left in awe with the things that you read. There will always be something different the next time you read it. This is something that I have always enjoyed. Knowing and finding and experiencing God through the experiences written in the Bible which Paul would describe as "profitable" (2 Tim 3:16).

I'm blessed to have my girlfriend to go through the Bible with me this year. In fact it's by her urging that we go through it together so that I would have the ability to go through ALL the books of the Bible this year. As implied, I've never read all the books of the Bible. I read a lot, but I always get redirected to go from one book to another, which would make me leave the others untouched. She knows how helpful it is to get to read the whole Bible and I'm blessed that she's urging me to do that because I haven't read the whole book yet.

This month, we're going through the book of Genesis together. It doesn't mean that we'll get to end reading Genesis by months end, it's more likely that we'll be done before February ends. We're just starting this habit this month and I want to invite you guys to go through the whole Bible with us chronologically as well. I was compelled by this interview why it's good to go through the books chronologically instead of verse per verse or chapter per chapter. It's also good to get the background of the books which is why I would like to share the introduction that Ligonier.org provided for the book of Genesis.

So come, and join us through this adventure! And I would like to invite you to post your comments here as well as you join us in this journey. And since most of you readers happen to be my friends, I would expect you to be here. Kidding aside, reading through God's words are always helpful for our completion and for equipping us for every good work.

Just a Quick Prayer

Before I head off and speak before the church later (for a couple of minutes). I know what I'm about to say or share won't be much but facing crowds always faze me. So much so when it's a big crowd. With that in mind and the massive glorious unknown that is ahead of me, let me share the prayer in my heart right now.

When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
(Psalm 56:3-4 ESV)

I know it's just a few minutes, but opportunities like these should not be wasted. Don't waste your 2 minute speeches. Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Greetings and Salutations!

As the cursor blinks, I'm still clueless as to how I'd be able to write this first post. My mind has already wandered through certain ideas and I already have a few content lined up for my next ones. I just couldn't post them because I have to get over this hump of writing the first entry and answering a couple of whys.

So let me go through and attempt to write this one so that I could get to finally hit the publish button on my other entries.

Why A New Blog?

I just wanted to start a new one dedicated to my journey through the ocean that we call God's grace. It's wide, it's deep and it's full of things to talk about. My mouth and my mind doesn't stop when a conversation enters the realm where Jesus is involved. So I figured out, why not just write them all out in one spot dedicated to such things?

I hope to share my excitement with Jesus and I pray that I'd be able to display His awesomeness to those who will get to read this blog. I'm already assured of one reader, and that in itself would make all of this worth it.

What's up with the title?

Trust me, hours were spent in figuring out what to call this blog. Fortunately enough, this verse entered my head and made me realize what this blog would be about. Let me share the verse.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
(Philippians 4:8 ESV)

There are a lot of things that enter our minds but there are things that Christians should fill their minds with. This verse always reminds me of what to do in order for me to be inspired to worship my God and serve the people around me. There is something about God that our minds should tap into. We need to know and we need to seek, search and dig deep for the things of God so that we'll be able to see the majesty of our Lord and Savior that will make our jaw drop in awe. This has been the tug that I've felt in my heart ever since I took my first step heading home.

There! 1st post done! Hope that I'd be able to edify and point you all to the God that I am so excited to talk about every minute of my everyday. To making God's fame known!

Soli Deo Gloria!
